The Grindhouse Horror Series Debuts January 2026
Los Angeles, CA (October 16th, 2025) – The Australian wilderness is known to be beautiful and dangerous on its own, but what happens when you throw in a murderous cult of bikers high on a drug that makes them feral? Cullen Bunn (Deluge, Harrow County) and Aneke (Bylines in Blood, Carmen) give us a wild new look at the Outback in the new grindhouse action series Ripcord, debuting from Ignition Press in January 2026. The series was announced during the publisher’s Retailer Day presentation at New York Comic Con.

The drug known as Ripcord has become the scourge of the world. It’s extremely addictive, and it doesn’t just alter your perception...it fundamentally alters who you are. Ripcord users have their whole bodies taken over by the substance, and it transforms them into mindless, frenzied killers who want nothing but to destroy. That means when the drug becomes popular in an area, that place becomes horribly dangerous.
Dillon is one of thousands who has lost a family member to Ripcord, but unlike so many others, she’s going to do something about it. Her sister has gone missing in the Outback, and Dillon is going to stop at nothing – and let nothing stop her – until she brings her home.
“Ripcord is a brutal grindhouse action adventure wrapped around Dillon’s unflinching quest to find her missing sister in the wilds of Australia,” said writer Cullen Bunn. “There’s something else there, too, something I’m really excited to explore with readers. As soon as the Ogre makes its appearance, it’ll become clear that we’re delving into a new mythology, one that starts, not with a creation myth, but with a question. How far would you be willing to go, how much chaos would you be willing to bring crashing down on your enemies, how much violence would you be willing to inflict if it meant saving the life of someone you love?”

“I have felt in this book a renovated freedom. It had been a while since I was dreaming of doing some more gory-esque work and to be honest, it feels really good to pour yourself into all the madness of a story like this,” said series artist Aneke. “It is impossible not to feel the pain of our hero in her savage quest, and her will is unswerving. If you can feel the strength, courage, and determination of our protagonist in our pages, I will have done my work. Delicious road to hell!”

Ripcord #1 is available in comic shops January 14th, 2026, from writer Cullen Bunn and artist Aneke. This issue features a main cover from Jorge Fornes (Rorschach, Batman) with B variants by series artist Aneke, with additional variant cover details to be announced later this year.
“When you read Ripcord, you’re reading a comic by two creators unleashed,” said series editor Jamie S. Rich. “This book is far and away the most gruesomely kinetic project either Cullen or Aneke have undertaken. It’s their first book together, and yet they meld together so perfectly, you’d think it was their fifteenth. And that doesn’t even factor in Dune-colorist Patricia Martin, who brings a surreal, over-the-top color palette to the comic that just makes the violence and viscera all the more terrifying.”
